Passersby

Passersby explores the relationship between the solitary human figure and the spaces through which it moves.

The people in these photographs are rarely presented as individuals with a defined identity. Seen from a distance, partially hidden or reduced to silhouettes, they become temporary presences within streets, passages and architectural structures.

Light and shadow divide the space into fragments, while the human figure introduces scale, tension and uncertainty. The surrounding architecture is not merely a setting. It shapes the way each person can be seen and determines whether the figure appears protected, isolated, observed or almost absorbed by the environment.

These photographs are not concerned with particular events or personal stories. They examine brief encounters in which an anonymous passerby and a specific place form a temporary visual relationship.

The moment soon disappears, but the photograph preserves the distance between the observer, the figure and the surrounding space.
